Abstract Submission Rules

We are pleased to welcome you to the abstract submission platform for the 22nd HFSP Awardees Meeting (HFSP2023) that will take place onsite, at Cape Town International Convention Centre, Cape Town, South Africa, from 6th to 8th December 2023.

01
Abstracts can only be submitted online via the online abstract submission platform: #. Abstracts sent by fax, post or email will not be accepted.
View Example of Abstracts.
02
Invitations to submit abstracts have been sent on August 22nd, 2023 to all active HFSP awardees and HFSP alumni. In addition, scientists from South Africa have been invited through our local partners, the National Research Foundation and the South African Medical Research Council. If you think you are eligible to attend the HFSP Awardees Meeting and did not receive an invitation to submit an abstract, then please contact awm2022@hfsp.org.
03
Abstract submission is limited to 4 abstracts per HFSP award
04
Research Grant teams may submit more than one abstract. For the work of the grant team to be considered for an oral presentation, one “team abstract” listing all team members as co-authors and summarizing the work of the entire team should be submitted. Oral presentations by grant awardees will be selected from these abstracts. In addition, poster abstracts on subtopics within the grant may be submitted. The presenting author MUST be a member of the grant team (that is someone who was listed on the original grant application) and not a post- doc or other lab member working on the HFSP project.
05
Long-Term and Cross-Disciplinary Fellows and Career Development Awardees are encouraged to present their work.
06
Abstracts must be submitted in English.
07
Abbreviations and acronyms should be defined in full in the text.
08
You can submit your abstract up until November 6th 23:59 CEST for oral and poster presentations.
09
The Programme Committee will select abstracts for full talks and all other abstracts will be assigned a poster.
10
The notifications for talks and posters will be sent by late-October, to the author indicated as the presenting author during the submission process.
11
The submission of an abstract implies that the presenting author must register for the HFSP Awardees Meeting to present his/her talk or poster.
12
If the abstract is accepted, the presenting author will have the opportunity to present either:
- Oral presentation / Full talk (15 minutes + 5 minutes Q & A) or
- Onsite paper poster presentation only
